The festival will be held December 1 to 21 at a few venues throughout the capital city: at the Music Pavilion in Zrinjevac park, in front of the Croatian National Theatre, at the Archaeological Museum atrium and at the Museum of Arts and Crafts, Mimara Museum, Dverce Palace, French Pavilion, St. Catherine's church and St. Francis Xavier's church.
"The beautiful atmosphere of Advent in Zagreb will be complemented by this festival with nearly a thousand performers from all over Croatia - Istria, Rijeka, Slavonia, Podravina, Medjimurje and Slovenia. Advent will be a magical backdrop for the festival's performers - a choir of refugees from Afghanistan, Syria and Iran. One couple from Iran will sing Gospel music from Persia and there will even be Armenian numbers. There will also be ethnic minority choirs performing in Ukraine, Italian and Russian," Ivana Lusic from the Musica Nota association, the festival's organiser, said.
She added that performances will present sacral, gospel, folklore, acappella, pop and jazz versions of carols.
The aim is for Zagreb to become a popular spot for music lovers and that carols are sung in its streets, similarly to Vienna and Prague.
"Children for Children"charity concert
Part of the festival will be dedicated to the "Children for Children" charity concert and all the proceeds collected will be donated to families with children suffering from malignant diseases.
The children's concert will be held in the Arts and Crafts Museum on 15 December and will go live on social networks so that children in hospital can watch the concert too, the organisers explained.
All the events, with the exception of the children's concert will be free of charge. Tickets for the children's concert will cost HRK 50 and donations for this cause can also be made at all the events during the festival.
