Split University granted EUR 25 mln from EU funds

ZAGREB, Nov 10 (Hina) - The University of Split has received a grant of HRK 189.6 million  from the EU Regional Development Fundfor three projects, the university reported on Friday.

The projects are the largest ever in Split and a sole research and development infrastructure projects for Croatia's coastal region and will last until June 2020, a press release said.

These are capital infrastructure investments to strengthen capacities in R&D and innovation aimed at improving the quality, scope and relevance of research activities.

One of the projects valued at HRK 85.1 million will facilitate the procurement of scientific equipment for three faculties.

The second project, worth HRK 84.5 million, refers to the implementation of contemporary scientific-research infrastructure at the construction, architecture and geodetics faculty will be used to refurbish the faculty building and to procure equipment for 11 laboratories.

The third project, worth HRK 20 million, will be used to put into function the building for animal testing and for biomedical research, the university said in its press release.

"These three projects will take Split into a new era and this if the future for Split and the region," University Rector, Simun Andjelinovic, said and added that these projects will resolve some of the problems of the university and local companies and the benefits will be multifold.
