According to data released by the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices said that 4.8 million euro was spent on anxiolytics and about 5.1 million euro was spent on anti-depressants.
Compared to data for 2015, EUR 409,000 more was spent in 2016 for anxiolytics.
These figures confirm information released by the World Health Organisation (WHO) which indicate that about 5% of Bosnia's population suffer from depression.
The increased use of medicines in Bosnia for nervous disorders has occurred despite the fact that over the past few years, their availability has been restricted and can only be obtained with a prescription.
