Mihalic Djurica added that the number of French tourists could have been higher had there been more flights available.
"Last year we had nine new flights and this year an additional four have been introduced. Practically all of France is covered now and that is a market of 66 million people. The French traditionally travel to Dubrovnik and Split, and a growing number are going to Zadar and the northern Adriatic," she said.
This can be attributed to Croatia's performance at all important tourism and specialised fairs and maritime events like the Gulf of Morbihan Week in Vannes, where Croatia is represented by a Split-Dalmatia County delegation, she said, adding that tourists consider Croatia to be a safe country.
Croatian Day in Vannes was organised by the Cronaves association from Split, the Palagruza association from Komiza and the Croatian Tourist Board's Paris office. Festival Days in the Bay, which will be held in September in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, was presented.
Festival Days in the Bay nurtures Croatia's maritime heritage and gathers traditional boats from the entire Adriatic region.
