The number of industrial workers in Croatia in the period from January to November 2016 contracted by 0.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2015, however, labour productivity increased by 5.1%.
The manufacturing industry that employs 91% of all employees in the industrial sector, saw a decrease of 0.2% in the number of employees in November 2016 on the month and 0.4% on the year. On the other hand , labour productivity increased by 5.2%.
In the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, a segment within the manufacturing sector, the number of employed decreased by 10.3% on the year.
The manufacture of food products that has a share of 15.5% in the total employment in Croatia's industry, saw a decrease of 2% in the labour force in November 2016 compared to October 2015.
The highest year-on-year increase in the labour force of 4.8% was in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, the DZS has reported.
