Croatia's food industry records 43.7% increase in net profit

ZAGREB, Dec 6 (Hina) - Croatia's food industry generated a consolidated net profit of HRK 931.5 million in 2015, which was an annual increase of 43.7%, according to figures provided by the Financial Agency (FINA).

Data from annual financial statements show that last year there were 1,721 food producers, which employed 43,588 workers, up 4.5% over 2014. They generated a total revenue of HRK 33.3 billion, which was an annual increase of 6.3%.

The average monthly net wage in the food industry was HRK 4,396. It was 1.2% higher than in 2014 and 12.4% lower than the average national corporate sector wage of HRK 5,019.

In 2015 compared with 2014, the number of food exporters went up by 14.2% to 257, while the number of food importers rose by 8.6% to 292. Food exports increased by 13.6% to HRK 5.5 billion, while food imports rose by 11% to HRK 5.9 billion.

Among the 1,721 food producers, Vindija recorded the highest revenue, of HRK 2.6 billion, which accounted for 7.7% of the total revenues generated by the food producers. It was followed by PIK Vrbovec, with a revenue of HRK 2.2 billion, and Podravka, with a revenue of HRK 2.03 billion.
