Croatia's survey unemployment rate falls to 16.3% in 2015 from 17.3% in 2014

ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - Croatia's survey unemployment rate was 16.3% last year, falling by one percentage point from 2014, according to the figures provided by the national statistical office (DZS).

In 2015, as many 309,000 Croatians were out of work, which was by 18,000 fewer than in 2014.

Last year, the number of employed Croatians rose by 23,000 on the year to 1.58 million.

The employment rate showing a share of the employed persons in the total working-age population was 44.1% last year, rising from 43.3% in 2014.

In 2015, Croatia's working-age population above 15 stood at 3.6 million, out of which 1.89 million were categorised as active (also called labour force that includes employed or unemployed citizens) and 1.7 million were economically inactive persons.

Thus, economic activity rate, or EAR,  which is the percentage of the population, both employed and unemployed, that constitutes the manpower supply of the labour market, was 52.7% in 2015, as against 52.4% in 2014.
