Croatian undergraduates dissatisfied with social, economic conditions of student life

Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - Croatian students are least satisfied with the overall conditions of their college life, according to the findings of a survey carried out in 30 European countries.

The Eurostudent V survey, conducted in mid-2014, covered 2,551 respondents in Croatia.

According to the findings presented recently, the total costs of university education, which also include the costs of living, were HRK 15,417 per student per semester, that is 30,934 kuna per school year.

The income provided by a student's parents is the most frequent source of funds for tertiary training.

In Croatia, only 8% of university students are accommodated in dormitories, while in Slovenia and Hungary a quarter of the student population (25%) live in dormitories.

As many as 46% of Croatian students come from families where at least one parent has a university degree.
