"The only Croatian A-list festival will again confirm its ‘Grand Slam’ animation festival status (next to Annecy, Ottawa and Hiroshima) by bringing to Croatia over 150 acclaimed film-makers and over 300 films covering almost all genres and animation techniques," according to information provided on the film's web portal.
Films will be presented in 15 programme sections, art director Daniel Sljic told a news conference in Zagreb this past Wednesday.
Films have been selected "among 1,700 entries from more than 70 countries all over the world - from renowned animation powerhouses like France, UK and Canada, to those that yet need to strengthen their position on the animation map of the world, like Singapore and Lebanon," according to information on the web portal.
A special programme section will be dedicated to Raoul Servais, a Belgian master of animation, the winner of this year’s Animafest Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented to him at the official opening ceremony in Zagreb on 6 June.
The venues of the festival will be the Europa and Tuskanac cinemas as well as some outdoor venues, including Zrinjevac Park.
