Although the number of foreign cruise ships that visited the Croatian Adriatic was not the highest in November, the increase of 58 per cent was the highest in all months last year. Compared with November 2014, the number of visits by foreign cruise ships rose by 15 to 41.
On the 41 trips foreign cruise ships brought 62,300 passengers, or 26.5 per cent more than last year. They spent a total of 77 days in Croatia, which was 83.3 per cent more than in November 2014.
A large increase in the number of visits by foreign cruise ships, of 50 per cent, was also recorded in March, although only nine such visits were made then. The largest number was logged in September - 123. September, April and February were the only months last year to record decreases in the number of visits by foreign cruise ships compared with the corresponding months in 2014.
Of the 41 trips by cruise ships last November, 14 were made under the Italian flag and eight under the Panamanian flag. The other most frequent foreign flags in the Croatian Adriatic were those of Malta and the Bahamas.
The large increase in the number of visits by foreign cruise ships in November contributed to the overall increase of such trips in the 11 months of the year of nearly 10 per cent, to 760. These ships brought a little over a million passengers, which was about 26,600 or 2.6 per cent more than in 2014.
Most of the ships that sailed in the Croatian Adriatic in the January-November period of 2015 flew the Maltese flag -- 188, while 154 ships were Italian-flagged. Bahamian- and Panamanian-flagged vessels made 146 and 116 such trips respectively.
