ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - Croatia's median monthly salary in the the last quarter of 2015 was HRK 5,214 (approximately EUR 686), which was 3 per cent lower than in Q3 2014 and 4% lower than in Q4 2014, the Moj Posao job search web portal reported on Monday.
Throughout 2015, the average monthly salary was 5,381 kuna (EUR 708), which was one percent higher than the mean monthly pay in 2014.
Broken down by type of profession, top executives' average salary was 128% above the average, and salaries in the technology and development sector were by 80% above the average.
The lowest mean monthly salary was in the clothes and footwear industry, 43% below the average, and in the services sector, 35% below the average.
In Q4 2015, the monthly salary earned by male employees was 9% higher than the average salary earned by women. The median monthly salary paid to men was 5,438 kuna (EUR 715), and the average salary paid to women was 4,976 kuna (approx. EUR 655).
Broken down by educational degree, the median salary paid to employees with a college degree was 54% higher than the average salary of workers with finished secondary education and 26% above the average monthly pay.
Broken down by ownership structure, private companies owned by foreigners paid the highest salaries, 15% above the average, totalling HRK 5,990 (EUR 788) on average.
For instance, the median monthly salary paid in state-owned companies was HRK 5,487 (EUR 722).
Broken down by region, the highest average monthly pay was in the City of Zagreb, 14% above the average totalling HRK 5,968 (EUR 785), and the lowest in two eastern counties, Virovitica-Podravina and Slavonski Brod-Posavina, being 20% below the average.
