NOVI VINODOLSKI, Oct 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Book Month, a national programme promoting reading as an activity of great social value and the book as a cultural asset, began on Thursday and the official launch of the 30-day-long event was held in the library in the northern coastal town of Novi Vinodolski, which is celebrating its 170th anniversary.
This year, the Croatian Book Month will be taking place from 15 October to 15 November, dedicating its events to the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, as 2015 has been officially proclaimed by the UN General Assembly.
The organising committee's chairwoman, Davorka Bastic said over 2,000 events and various programmes would be held throughout Croatia during the Month.
The official closing event will be in the library in Duga Resa which is marking its 90th anniversary.
