On Sunday, 5,732 entered the country and were registered in Opatovac, after which they were taken by train to the border with Hungary or by bus to the Baranjsko Petrovo Selo border crossing with Hungary.
A winter transit centre for migrants is being set up in a former warehouse in Slavonski Brod, 200 km east of Zagreb, to make their passage through Croatia faster and more comfortable in the winter months, the Ministry of the Interior said, adding that the Opatovac reception centre will be operating until the transit centre is ready.
Over 157,000 migrants have entered Croatia since mid-September, most of them passing through the Opatovac reception centre en route to their desired destinations in western and northern Europe.
