During the day on Monday, over 4,500 people crossed into Croatia from Serbia via Tovarnik and Bapska, and were further directed towards Hungary.
Currently, 250 migrants are accommodated in the reception centre in Opatovac near Bapska, the ministry said last night. Croatia expects a large wave of migrants to arrive from Serbia on Tuesday, too.
A majority of those people left their homes in war-stricken Syria, Afghanistan and other Middle East countries and conflict-ridden north African countries.
