The influx of migrants feeling war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa is expected to continue to be the largest in the eastern areas of Tovarnik and Ilok.
Around 2,900 migrants are currently staying at the refugee reception centre at Opatovac, north of Tovarnik, and Croatian authorities continue organising their transport to border crossings.
Around 10.30 pm on Tuesday the border crossing of Bajakovo-Batrovci on the border with Serbia was closed to all traffic. Cargo vehicles are being redirected to the border crossing of Zupanja, while cars and buses are being redirected to the border crossing of Tovarnik, the ministry reported.
Due to a blockade of the Bajakovo border crossing by truck drivers waiting on the Serbian side of the border, cars, buses and cargo vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 7.5 tonnes are being redirected to the border crossing of Tovarnik, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) said on Wednesday morning.
Vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 7.5 tonnes travel through Bosnia and Herzegovina via the border crossing of Stara Gradiska.
An 11-kilometre-long line of cargo vehicles is waiting on the border crossing of Bajakovo to leave Croatia.
The border crossings Ilok, Ilok 2, Principovac, Principovac 2, Erdut and Batina on the border with Serbia are closed to all traffic as well, HAK said.
