This is how tourism professionals describe this year's increase in the number of domestic tourists and their overnights which, according to the National Board of Tourism, in the first seven months amounted to 9% in arrivals and 8% in overnights, compared to the same period the year before. Over the past years the number of arrivals and overnights generated by Croatian tourists had been stagnating.
The number of arrivals and overnights generated by foreign tourists in the first seven months of 2015 also went up by 9% and 7.2% respectively. With a total of 952,200 arrivals, domestic tourists made up 12% over the overall arrivals, generating 4.27 million overnights (10.6%).
The total number of arrivals in the first seven months, generated by both Croatian and foreign tourists, was 8 million, while the total number of overnights in the said period was 40.4 million.
Tourism exports underlined the importance of the increase in the number of Croatian tourists, given their spending habits. They expect this positive trend to continue throughout the year.
