The opinion poll conducted among passengers travelling through Europe by InterRail routes included a sample of 32,000 respondents from 16 countries regarding preparedness for a travel to several destinations.
According to Booking.com, 42% of respondents aged 18-29 expressed their interest in this form of travel and 31% in their 30-ies and 40-ies also wanted a dose of spontaneity to travel to several destinations.
The highest interest in multi-destination travel was shown by Italians (30%), Americans (33%), Australians (34%), Brazilians (42%), Russians (45%) and the Chinese (65%).
The best gastronomic destinations in Europe named were in Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Lyon and two Croatian destinations - Plomin and Krapina.
Plomin is described as a small village, rich in history and located in beautiful Istria at a height of 80 metres and offers the best home-made olive oil, cheese and luxurious truffles.
Some of the specialties mentioned from northern Croatia, in Krapina, include turkey with mlinci (a pastry cooked and then dowsed in the juices of roast turkey).
Amongst the towns listed as offering the best night life and beverages, Booking.com recommends two Croatian destinations - Novalja on the island of Pag and Ilok, the eastern most town in Croatia.
Novalja is best known for its Zrce beach parties dotted with excellent bars and clubs and Ilok is reputed for its fine wines.
