"This is, above all, recognition of President Grabar-Kitarovic's efforts in building good relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina," Topic said.
He added that Grabar-Kitarovic was selected amongst Jordanian Queen Noor and former US President Bill Clinton.
Topic underscored that the selection committee consisted of 24 member who agreed that it is of exceptional importance for Bosnia to build better and closer ties with Croatia as its immediate neighbour.
The NGO was founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting the multicultural and multiethnic heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some of the dignitaries to have been awarded over the past years include Slovenia's President Boris Pahor, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
Topic explained that President Grabar-Kitarovic would be presented with the award in September during her scheduled visit to Sarajevo.
