ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - Tourism revenues might exceed EUR 7.5 billion this year, which would be the best results since Croatia gained independence and the good results in the shoulder season have contributed to this, Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said on Zagreb's yammatFM radio on Friday.

He said expectations of this season "are very high", recalling that last year tourism revenue was EUR 7.45 billion.

He said Croatia had a lot to offer on its "relatively small" territory, underlining the importance of destination management in creating product, eliminating shortcomings and raising competitiveness.

The minister also underscored the importance of focusing on a theme or a product, saying Dubrovnik, Hvar, Mali Losinj, Rovinj and Istria were developing lifestyle tourism, which accounts for 10% of the revenues.

Lorencin said the many music festivals taking place in Croatia, such as Ultra Europe in Split, were also important because they attracted a lot of tourists.

He also highlighted the importance of investing in continental tourism, with the aim of creating high quality, attractive and competitive products.
