The article was written by Shivani Vora who visited Varazdin in January this year.
"Croatia may be most famous for its picturesque Dalmatian Coast dotted with medieval cities like Dubrovnik. Varazdin, an inland city of 50,000 one hour north of Zagreb, has an equally rich history, but over the last several years it has become even better known as a hub for culture. Its festivals celebrate everything from contemporary art and dance to Baroque and rock music, and artists, ateliers and government initiatives continue to enhance an already vivid scene," the journalist writes in the article that was also carried in a statement by the Varazdin Tourism Board.
This is not the first time The New York Times has reported about Varazdin. Last year, the town was included in the newspaper's list of 52 places to visit in 2014.
