ZAGREB, April 23
(Hina) - Direct resolution of six Croatian banks,
conducted in the period from 1995 to 2000, cost the state budget close
to HRK 13 billion in total while the sale of those banks brought in
HRK 7 billion, and the best answer to the question if their resolution
was worth it, is the successful operation of bailed-out and privatised
banks as against the significantly less successful operation of banks
that continue to be state-owned, it was said at a round-table
discussion entitled "Bank Resolution - 15 Years Later".
