He has composed more than a hundred classical works, but he became famous for his film music.
During his 50-year-long career he has won numerous awards, including an Oscar for life achievement (2007), five BAFTA awards, three Golden Globes, and four Grammies.
He is best known for his compositions for Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns but he also made music for films directed by Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almodovar, Roman Polanski, Mike Nichols, Oliver Stone, Barry Levinson and many others.
At the Zagreb concert, the Zagreb Philharmonic, under Morricone's conductorship, will perform a set of atmospheric, timeless compositions from his long career.
