Author: spez
PODGORICA, Feb 16 (Hina) - Montenegrin electronic and print media on Sunday and Monday focused on the inauguration of Croatia's new President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, in particular on her meeting with Montenegro's President Filip Vujanovic who had attended the inauguration ceremony.

During the meeting, the two presidents underscored his desire for the continuation of current good bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

"During open and constructive talks, presidents Vujanovic and Grabar-Kitarovic confirmed the meaningful and close relations between Montenegro and Croatia," President Vujanovic's office said in a press release.

The press release further notes that the two asserted that the Prevlaka peninsula border issue did not burden the relations between the two countries "but that it was in mutual interest for it to be resolved, preparing an agreement to accept the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice in The Hague to which, in the spirit of good neighbourly relations, the Prevlaka issue would be referred."

Vujanovic expressed his respect relating to Croatia's support and aid in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and especially Grabar-Kitarovic's personal advocacy in her preceding position in NATO, where she expressed her support for Montenegro's membership in that organisation.

Vujanovic and Grabar-Kitarovic agreed that there was room to advance economic cooperation between the two countries and they agreed to organise mutual official visits as well as business forums.

Media in Montenegro's capital Podgorica carried Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic's congratulations to Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in which he highlights his confidence that the existing successful cooperation between the two friendly countries would continue.

"Montenegro and Croatia have built a lasting friendship and strong partnership, not only bilaterally, but through joint action on the regional and international scope," Djukanovic says in his note of congratulations.

As he said, Croatia's example and experience positively motivate Montenegro on its European and Euro-Atlantic integration path.
