Croatian presidential inauguration news of the day in Bosnia

Author: rmli
SARAJEVO, Feb 15 (Hina) - All electronic media in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday reported extensively about the Croatian presidential inauguration, and most of the local media treated the event as the news of the day.

The public broadcasters BH Radio 1, BHT 1 and TV Federation BiH reported about the inauguration in the first minutes of their news programmes, recalling that all three members of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency attended the event.

"The new (Croatian) president stressed that she wanted the entire region to join the EU and NATO," BHT 1 said.

All public media outlets stressed that while mentioning Bosnia and Herzegovina in her speech, Grabar-Kitarovic promised that she would look after the rights of the Croat community in that country.

BH Radio 1 said Grabar-Kitarovic called for overcoming divisions in Croatian society.

The Sarajevo Dnevni Avaz daily said in its on-line edition that Grabar-Kitarovic underlined as one of Croatia's strategic interests the building of good relations with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and support for improving the equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina's constituent nations.

The Banja Luka-based Nezavisne Novine, close to Bosnian Serb authorities, ran an article headlined "Special emphasis on minority protection", with reports by the entity public broadcaster RTRS, too, accentuating that part of her speech.

The popular Sarajevo web portal Klix said that the new Croatian president promised to protect the Croat community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A former head of the country's Islamic community, Mustafa Ceric, congratulated the new Croatian president, expressing confidence that her term in office would be marked by success and justice and that it would benefit Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"With her useful advice and concrete decisions, President Grabar-Kitarovic will definitely help Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to Euro-Atlantic organisations," said Ceric.
