Over 200 museums, galleries, archives, libraries, research centres, education and other institutions in more than 100 cities and towns will open their doors for free entry, the HMD said this past Friday.
This year's theme once again highlights renowned figures from Croatia's culture, art and science and their impact on the development of the local community, the HMD said.
It underscored the importance of developing and integrating cultural institutions with the local community and the importance of involving the local community in the Long Night of Museums project.
This year's emphasis is on using the personality of the ingenious inventor to enhance development possibilities for the town of Gospic and the central Lika region by connecting the "Nikola Tesla" memorial centre in his home town Smiljan near Gospic and the Zagreb Technical Museum in organising creative presentations that would attract a large number of visitors.
The number of visitors to the Long Night of Museums has been growing by the year and in the nine years since its introduction it has been attended by two million people, with last year's record of 360,000.
