HDZ candidate Grabar Kitarovic leads in presidential runoff, exit polls show
ZAGREB, Jan 11
(Hina) - The presidential candidate of the opposition
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, received
51.40% of the vote while the incumbent president Ivo Josipovic,
nominated by the Social Democratic Party, won 48.60% in Croatia's
runoff presidential election on Sunday, according to exit polls.

ZAGREB, Jan 11
(Hina) - The presidential candidate of the opposition
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, received
51.40% of the vote while the incumbent president Ivo Josipovic,
nominated by the Social Democratic Party, won 48.60% in Croatia's
runoff presidential election on Sunday, according to exit polls.
Josipovic, a law school professor and composer, and Grabar Kitarovic, a former foreign minister and diplomat who served as Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy at NATO as the first woman ever to be appointed to the position of the Alliance's Assistant Secretary General, were the top two vote-getters in the first round of the presidential election held on 28 December.
The State Electoral Commission (DIP) will release preliminary results at 8pm on its website and the data will be updated in the course of the night.
