Snow covers Croatia's farthest island

Author: vmic
SPLIT, Dec 30 (Hina) - A snow cover blanketed Croatia's farthest Adriatic island of Palagruza on Tuesday, for the first time since 1952 when official measurements began, the Crometeo weather monitoring website said.

"Up to four centimetres of snow fell on Palagruza today. It is the first time in the history of meteorological measurements, which officially began in 1952, that a snow cover has formed on the island," the website's editor Rade Popadic told Hina.

Snow has fallen there before but has never stayed on the ground.

Palagruza is situated 125 kilometres south of the coastal city of Split.
