The 11-day festival of books and authors will include book presentations, conferences, round tables, exhibitions, concerts and films. About 300 participants are taking part in the fair's programmes.
Books can be bought with discounts ranging from 10 to 70 percent.
The fair will focus on the First World War centenary and on comics.
Zabuzhko said the Ukrainian literary market this year finally started recognising Croatian authors. "Today, Ukrainian readers are devouring contemporary Croatian literature and authors in search of lessons you can offer us because Croatia experienced what Ukraine is experiencing today, namely war destruction," she said, adding that "literature has always been an opposition to war."
