Hasanovic said that Bosniaks living in Croatia recognised values of the 1991-95 Homeland War and that 25,000 of them participated in the country's defence, of whom 1,180 were killed.
Addressing the event, Split City Council president Boris Curkovic said that Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina had a lot in common and that Croatia fully supported the neighbouring country's efforts to join the EU.
The leader of the coordinating body of Bosniak societies in Split and Split County, Kadro Kulasin, recalled the importance of the session of the Anti-fascist Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH), held in Mrkonjic Grad on 25 November 1943, saying that at that session "Bosnia and Herzegovina restored its statehood which it had lost in 1463 by falling under Ottoman rule."
