Verlichak wrote a letter published on Monday in the Letters to the Editor section of the Argentine daily newspaper La Nación.
"The relations between Argentina and Croatia have lasted for centuries and are strong. The mutual contributions that have been and continue to be made between the two countries are also significant. Therefore, it would be beneficial to establish an Argentine diplomatic mission in Croatia," she wrote.
Argentina has an embassy in Hungary's capital, Budapest, from where it covers Croatia.
Verlichak writes that Argentina was the first country on the American continent to recognise Croatia's independence on 13 April 1992, after which Croatia opened its embassy in Buenos Aires.
"There are about one hundred Croatian institutions in Argentina, from our northern regions to Ushuaia in the south," notes Verlichak, who is also a member of the Argentine Academy of History.
"As someone who spends part of the year living in Croatia, like many other Argentinians who live in or continually visit the country, I am very aware of the need to open a mission. It would be mutually beneficial," she added.
There are approximately 300,000 Croats and their descendants living in Argentina, according to the Croatian government's Office for Croats Abroad.
