PM Plenković praised Paralympic athletes for their endeavors, engagement, excellence and strong will, and said that Croatia is looking forward to the "second half of the Olympics" in Paris, referring to the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
He wished them success and promised the government's support.
Tourism and Sports Minister Tonči Glavina said that during its third term the Plenković cabinet decided to raise financial rewards for successful athletes.
A gold medal winner at the 17th edition of the Paralympic Games can expect €41,000, while a silver medalist is entitled to €26,000 and a bronze medalist to €18,500.
During the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, Croatia is being represented by a total of 100 athletes and this proves the quality of Croatia's sports, said the premier.
At the recent 33rd Olympics, Croatia bagged seven medals: two golds, two silvers and three bronze medals.
Three years ago, Croatian Paralympic athletes won seven medals in Tokyo.
Plenković underscored the importance of enabling persons with disabilities to be engaged in society.
"Equality and inclusion are our main principles, and we have made the biggest headway so far to make sure Croatia is a society of equal opportunities," he said.
On behalf of the Croatian Paralympians, table tennis player Anđela Mužinić Vincetić thanked the government for its support.
Paris will welcome about 4,400 Paralympians from 186 Paralympic Committees and they will compete in 22 sports.
Croatia's team consists of 22 Paralympians who will take part in six sports.
Ten are in the athletic section: Deni Černi, Ivan Katanušić, Matija Sloup, Erik Fabian Kaurin, Luka Baković, Velimir Šandor, Miljenko Vučić, Marijan Presečan, Mikela Ristoski and Ivana Purkić.
Four are in the table tennis section: Anđela Mužinić Vincetić, Helena Dretar Karić, Mirjana Lučić and Borna Zohil.
There are three Croatian participants in para swimming and para boccia each: Dino Sinovčić, Emma Mečić, Paula Novina in the former sport and Anamarija Arambašić, Dora Bašić and Davor Komar in the latter.
Antonio Franko is the Paralympian competing in triathlon while Ivan Mikulić competes in para taekwondo.
Croatia's athletes have won 26 medals at Summer Paralympics so far: five golds, eight silvers and 13 bronze medals.
