Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak

ZAGREB, 18 June (Hina) - An exhibition showcasing the entries for the conceptual design competition for Croatia's participation at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, was opened at the Croatian Association of Architects on Tuesday.

On this occasion, the winning project titled "Croatia - climadiversity"  was also presented.

"I am especially pleased that Croatia will be represented at the world's largest exhibition with the theme 'Empowering People for a Resilient Future,' which aligns with the goals of many programs, measures, and projects of our Government," said the Minister of Culture and Media, Nina Obuljen Koržinek, at the exhibition's opening.

The high professional standards in the competition for the best work have successfully initiated the demanding process of realizing the national pavilion that will represent Croatia at the World Expo in Osaka 2025, the minister stressed. She added that mutual trust and respect for the profession are prerequisites for the realisation of the complex project for the EXPO participation.

Mia Roth-Čerina, the president of the jury for selecting the conceptual design for Croatia's participation, highlighted that the central theme of the World Expo in Osaka focuses on how countries are working towards and what they can offer in achieving the 17 United Nations' sustainable development goals. She added that the exhibition is organized five years before the set deadline for achieving these goals.

She noted that the presentation at the World Expo is extremely important for the visibility that Croatia gains through it.

The budget allocated for Croatia's presentation at EXPO 2025 is around 900,000 euros. The plan is to build and test the pavilion in Croatia before sending it to Japan. The World Expo in Osaka will take place from 13 April to 13 October next year, with an expected attendance of over 28 million visitors.

The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Croatian Association of Architects, and it runs through 21 June.
