The competitions will be held in the City Sports Hall on the river Drava, the popular Varaždin Arena, and both the youth and the senior competitions will take place.
The European Indoor Archery Championship was presented at a press conference.
This is a competition that is now held every year. The only exception was last year, when the competition was supposed to be held in Turkey, but was cancelled due to the earthquake, said Darko Uidl, the president of the Croatian Archery Association, adding that he was especially happy that the competitions would be held in the Varaždin Arena.
It is not only about the most beautiful but also the most functional hall in Croatia, said Uidl, noting that more than 300 national team members, coaches, doctors and other staff would arrive, generating more than 2,500 overnight stays.
The event is organised by the Croatian Archery Association, with the support of the Varaždin Archery Club Cekin.
"In addition to tradition and excellent results, our club has extensive experience in organising major competitions, said Damir Kolarek, the president of the Archery Club Cekin.
Kolarek added that the opening of the championship was reserved for qualifications, followed by elimination matches. On Friday, 23 February, the teams will compete for the medals in the youth and senior finals, while the individual finals will take place on the last day of the championship.
The Croatian national team is the largest it has ever been. There are ten seniors and 12 juniors in the team, a total of 22 competitors, and most of the national team members are from Varaždin County, said Kolarek.
Admission to the sports hall is free for all visitors.
