"It is a great privilege for us to be the Croatian representative at the Oscars this year. Our heartfelt thanks to the Commission," Turić told a press conference earlier this week.
The film opened at two European A festivals last year, in Warsaw and Tallinn, and has received a lot of awards at film festivals since, Turić said.
This is her feature debut after three successful short films.
The film tracks the story of an anthropologist struggling with a personal crisis as the last member of her once large family. Her research of symbols and traces left on medieval tombstones becomes intertwined with her life and eventually shows her the way out of her trauma.
The film stars Marija Škaričić with Nikša Butijer, Mate Bulin, Lana Barić and Tvrtko Jurić in supporting roles.
The shortlisted films for the Oscars will be announced in December and the nominations in January. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 10 March next year.
