Health institute: Every other Croatian adult vaccinated against COVID

ZAGREB, 20 Aug (Hina) - The Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ) said on Friday that 41.69% of Croatia's total population have been vaccinated, namely 50.1% of the adult population has been given a shot against coronavirus.

"By Thursday, 19 August, 3,200,638 vaccine doses have been administered. 1,691,778 persons were given a first dose (including doses designated 'unknown') and of them 1,508,860 received  two doses. A total of 41.69% of the total population has been vaccinated, namely 50,10% of the adult population," HZJZ said in a press release.

"Every other adult in Croatia has made a positive step forward and got vaccinated. To protect their own health and the lives and health of their fellow countrymen, every other Croatian citizen has received at lease one dose of the vaccine. All those who got vaccinated, by doing this unselfish deed, have contributed to the health, safety, preservation of life, preservation of the hospital system, preservation of jobs and the tourist season," Public Health Institute (HZJZ) head Krunoslav Capak said.

"I would like to thank the citizens who turned out for vaccination and health workers who did an amazing job. We will continue," Capak said.

In Zagreb, nearly three in five adults get a jab

The highest percentage of the inoculated population is in Zagreb (48% of the total population or 58% of the adult population.)

The highest percentage of those fully vaccinated is also in Zagreb (44.2% of the total population and 53.5% of the adult population).

The share of the vaccinated is higher with older age. A total of 588,755 (69%) person who are 65 or older have been inoculated with one dose and 555,832 have received two doses.
