The representatives said that they had so far disbursed HRK 4.6 million in aid to quake victims during the first stage of their assistance.
The second stage, which will last from June to the end of this year, envisages grants of up to one million kuna as support to development initiatives. The fund and the foundation continue providing financial assistance to socially vulnerable households and two million kuna is set aside for that purpose, as well as support for the sustainable reconstruction of that region, with an additional seven million kuna earmarked for that purpose.
The foundation's secretary-general Ivan Blažević said that the stabilisation, reconstruction and recovery of this region, which has been dealing with poverty for decades, were in the focus of their activities.
"Our priority is to provide families, that were made homeless by the (29 December) earthquake, with permanent housing solutions," he said.
In the last few months, we have brought together experts and elaborated support models, and at least 35 households will be supplied with permanent housing, said Blažević.
He said that the reconstruction of Sisak-Moslavina County does not imply only the reconstruction of buildings and businesses but the revitalisation of the whole community, which can be achieved by investing in local development initiatives.
To date ten local projects, worth a million kuna on the aggregate, have been supported financially.
