The decision on providing those opportunities to future freshmen was announced by the Polytechnic on Monday.
The initiative was launched by County Prefect Matija Posavec and the Polytechnic's dean Igor Klopotan.
The county is ready to set aside the funds to cover the costs of accommodation for a dozen eligible students in the local dorm, while the Polytechnic will provide them with scholarships.
Posavec was quoted as saying that Međimurje County would like to extend a hand of solidarity to quake-affected areas as well as to promote its local educational institution.
The MEV dean called on school leavers in quake-hit regions to use this opportunity and move to Čakovec for their further education.
