Valuable medical equipment donated to Sisak, Petrinja

Author: Roberta Mlinarić

ZAGREB, 9 April (Hina) - Valuable medical equipment - six vital signs monitors, special beds and other equipment - has been donated to the Dr. Ivo Pedišić Hospital in Sisak and the Petrinja Medical Centre through UNICEF.

The donation was made by Philips Hrvatska in partnership with Iceberg International Trading.

The director of the Sisak hospital, Tomislav Dujmenović, said on Friday that the donation consisted of five portable vital signs monitors, beds for critically ill patients, and four storage containers.

The Sisak hospital sustained extensive damage in an earthquake that hit Sisak-Moslavina County on 29 December 2020.

The head of the UNICEF office in Croatia, Regina M. Castillo, said that UNICEF had been present in Sisak-Moslavina County since the very first days after the earthquake, notably in campaigns designed to provide quality medical services to children and families.

She underlined the importance of corporate donors that have helped raise local health standards.

The handover of the equipment was also attended by the deputy head of mission of the Dutch Embassy in Croatia, Roderick Jeroen Richter.

UNICEF has so far donated a large quantity of protective equipment to medical institutions in Sisak-Moslavina County and it has provided, with its partners, six containers as well as professional medical equipment for the Sisak hospital. It has also donated HRK 360,000 to the Sisak-Moslavina County association of persons with disabilities.
