The purpose of the foundation is to collect funds for the post-quake reconstruction of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a Roman Catholic basilica located in Palmotićeva Street, which was heavily damaged in the tremor, as well as for the construction of a pastoral centre for young members of that parish.
Addressing today's ceremony, Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Koržinek said that after the disastrous quake, many families were left without homes, however, the properties would ne rebuilt, and the Carević family unfortunately had lost their member.
This is an opportunity to speak also about spiritual renewal, the minister said.
Anamarija's mother Nataša said that the construction of the pastoral centre that would be named after her daughter instilled her with pride and love.
She recalled her daughter's dedicated engagement in parish activities, including her membership in the parish orchestra, choir and her participation in humanitarian events organised by the church.
Anamarija, who sustained life-threatening injuries in the 22 March earthquake, died the following day in a hospital despite medical efforts to save her life.
