The fundraising event was organised at the initiative of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and the European Football Federation (UEFA).
On behalf of the UEFA, its president Aleksandar Čeferin today donated €50,000 to Croatia's Red Cross organisation, while the HNS president Davor Šuker presented the local football federation in Sisak-Moslavina County with HRK 200,000 for the reconstruction of the soccer utilities in the area, and the Slovenian Football Federation donated €5,000 to the Mladost club in Petrinja.
After the charity match, Čeferin said that as soon as he had heard of the tragic disaster in Petrinja and its wider area he had telephoned Šuker to discuss ways for the European football community to help the area around the cities of Petrinja and Sisak, which are still recovering from the earthquakes which killed seven people and caused huge damage.
The Croatian and the Slovenian football federations immediately joined this initiative.
