Renovation work cost around HRK 65 million, and Split Student Centre head Ivan Zizic said that 32 million was provided by the EU while the rest was Science and Education Ministry and own funding.
The dorm has 121 rooms with three beds, 49 rooms with two beds and four single-bed rooms adapted for students with disabilities.
Each room has an airconditioning system, a toilet, a refrigerator and a balcony.
Zizic said the dorm would not be sufficient to meet the needs of all students in Split wishing to live in a dorm and that there were plans to build a new one.
He said that there are around 20,000 students in Split, of whom 8,000 come from outside Split.
Minister Fuchs said that work on increasing dorm capacity would continue in Split and the rest of the country.
He said that Split University was developing well, had good programmes and was increasingly recognised in the world.
There are 160,000 students and 11,000 student accommodation units in the country, he said.
