DZS issues Valentine's Day statistics

ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The 2011 population census shows that in Croatia there are 11,646 women named Valentina, 1,348 men named Valentin and 1,928 men named Valentino, the National Bureau of Statistics says ahead of Valentine's Day, the day of romance celebrated on February 14.

As points of interest, the DZS says that between 1984 and 2017 the oldest bride in Croatia was 92 and the oldest groom 97. In the 1960s, men on average got married at the age of 26 and women at the age of 23, while in the early 2000s men married at 28 and women at 26. In 2017, men on average married at 31 and women at 29.

"In the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the most popular months to tie the knot were January, February and December. In the 1980s the winter months were replaced by April, while in the last 15 years or so most marriages have been entered into in September and October," the DZS said.
