A special emphasis was put on infrastructure development. The conference also focused on overcoming the existing challenges such as budgetary restrictions and migrant pressures in Croatia and the neighbouring countries.
Miguel Morgado, the EIB director for the Adriatic division, said that quality services in the health and education systems were critical for the well-being of citizens and for raising living standards. He also underscored the importance of investment in infrastructure, innovation and medical training, and stressed it was our duty to promote that.
The conference was also addressed by Gunnar Muent, head of the EIB innovation and competitiveness division, who said that EU member countries allocate large amounts for social programmes. He also underscored the need for investment in health and education.
