The Croatian Association of Film Workers (HDFD) each year selects by secret ballot a feature film to represent Croatia at the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards.
On the Other Side (Croatian: S one strane) is a 2016 Croatian-Serbian drama film directed by Zrinko Ogresta. It was shown in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. The film received a Special Mention from the Europa Cinema Label jury.
The film portrays the story of a nurse who moved to Zagreb with her children about 20 years ago fleeing from events that almost ruined their lives. One evening she gets an unexpected phone call which leads to a secret she had hidden for so long to surface.
The film stars Ksenija Marinkovic, Lazar Ristovski and Tihana Lazovic.
