This June, construction of buildings (residential and non-residential) saw a rise of 1.3%, however, civil engineering construction fell by 4% on the year.
Seasonally adjusted figures show that the construction volume in June decreased by 1.4% compared to May.
Analysts of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) have commented that in the first half of 2015, construction activity data were oscillating, indicating that the downward trend might be halted, but offering no clear signs of the start of recovery. The HGK analysts find that the sector needs a more robust investment activity in infrastructure construction which is still restrained due to restricted possibilities of public sector investments because of the measures taken to reduce the excessive budgetary deficit.
