The event will include 118 lectures, 150 presentations, ten workshops and seminars as well as show more than 600 posters.
Thirty-five commercial companies supported the conference, including the world's biggest crystallography equipment manufacturers, and 16 international and national organisations and institutions, including the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Croatian Science, Education and Sports Ministry, the International Union of Crystallography, the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, Protein Data Bank, and the International Center for Diffraction Data.
Crystallography is an interdisciplinary science linking physics, chemistry and biology, the IRB said. It offers a direct insight into the tridimensional internal structure of matter, including biological macro-structures such as proteins and viruses. Its development in the past few decades has revolutionised the design of new drugs and the development of new materials.
