Croatian Navy ship rescues 37 migrants

ZAGREB, Aug 3 (Hina) - The Croatian Navy ship "Andrija Mohorovicic", which last week sailed out of the Split's Lora naval base towards the Mediterranean to take part in the European Union humanitarian mission Triton, on Sunday rescued 37 migrants from the sea, the Criatuab Defence Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The "Andrija Mohorovicic", under the command of Lt Stjepan Giljevic, supports Italian forces guarding the sea border and saving migrants. Operation Triton, requested by the Italian authorities, was launched on 1 November 2014 in the central Mediterranean. Croatia is one of the 27 European countries taking part in the operation.

The "Andrija Mohorovicic" is a Croatian Navy ship built in 1971 in Gdansk, Poland.
