Average salary in Croatia in Q2 2% down from Q1

ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - The average net salary in Croatia in Q2 was HRK 5,268, 2% down from the previous quarter, the job-search portal MojPosao said presenting results of a survey on Tuesday.

Compared to the same period of last year, the average salary did not change, and if bonuses are added to it, the average salary was HRK 5,454, which is 1% down from Q1.

Apart from top management staff, whose salaries are on average 96% higher than the average salary, the best paid jobs are those in technology and development, 75% above the average, in telecommunications, 35% above the average, human resources, 33% above the average, and the IT sector, 28% above the average.

The lowest average salaries were reported in the textile and leather industries, 43% below the average, and in auxiliary services, 42% below the average.

In the last three months, male employees had salaries that were on average 11% higher than women's salaries, a slightly greater difference compared to Q1, when it was 8%.

The survey conducted by MojPosao shows that salaries in privately-owned foreign companies are 11% higher than the average salary and amount to HRK 5,945. Salaries in domestically-owned companies are the lowest and are 8% below the average, at HRK 4,937.

The average salary in state-owned companies is 4% above the average, HRK 5,590.

The highest average salary was reported in Zagreb, HRK 5,997, 14% above the average, and the lowest average salaries were reported in Virovitica, Vukovar and Lika counties (19%, 18% and 17% below the average respectively).

Regionally, Croatia is third, with an average salary of EUR 693. The Czech Republic has the highest average net salary, EUR 804, followed by Slovakia with EUR 697.

The average net salary in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 25% below the Croatian average, EUR 520, while the salary in Hungary is 28% below the Croatian average, EUR 499. Serbia has the lowest average salary in the region, EUR 373, which is 46% below the average salary in Croatia.
