Activists set up Trojan horse against TTIP in Zagreb's main square

ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - Non-profit civic associations set up an eight-metre-high Trojan horse in Zagreb's main square on Wednesday symbolising the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the European Union and the United States, urging citizens to sign a petition against the TTIP.

Activists carried banners mentioning chlorinated chicken, toxic chemicals, GMO, hormone beef, privatisation and corrupt courts.

The main message was that the TTIP is dangerous because it puts corporate interests before the interests of society, health and the environment, and the interests of citizens and the planet must be above corporate interests.

Green Action, Friends of the Earth Europe Croatia, the GONG election monitoring NGO, the Workers Initiative and Democracy Base, and Let's Stop the TTIP joined forces to warn citizens that the TTIP can seriously undermine the protection of human rights and the environment.

The activists also accused the Croatian government of doing nothing to economically analyse the impact of the TTIP.
