Croatian wine sector presented

ZAGREB, April 24 (Hina) - Croatia's wine sector was presented at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce on Friday on the occasion of the first visit of Serbian journalists, distributors and shop owners specialising in wines.

On April 23-26, they will visit Croatian wineries and wine shops in four Croatian wine regions.

Croatia has 20,941 hectares of vineyards and an average vineyard takes up 0.26 hectares, it was said at the presentation.

Last year, Croatia exported 3.5 million hectolitres of wine worth US$ 15.5 million, while importing 22.5 million hectolitres for $32 million. Croatia mainly exports wine to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Serbia, while mainly importing from Macedonia, France and Italy. Last year, Croatia exported $1 million worth of wine to Serbia, importing $300,000.

Assistant Agriculture Minister Zoran Vasic said there was room to intensify Croatian-Serbian cooperation in agriculture and the economy in general.

Croatian wines will be presented in Serbia in May.
